So how are things there? They're okay here at least! I'm still on holiday mode, which means I get to wake up at 10am, and luckily I was able to do almost everything I had written about on the to-do list at the meme yesterday: I didn't work, I read some more of Ensaio sobre a Cegueira, I finished the Doctor Who batch y'all see above, I went shopping with my mom (more on that later)... but I didn't download Lost. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO LOST YESTERDAY!! *sadface* I should have guessed, three years watching the show and I still haven't learned there's a gap between the first part of the finale and the other two :P But it's okay, it's gonna be back next week ^_^ And listening to the Season 3 soundtrack also filled the gap!

On the shopping - now this was a good shopping trip! I bought a new pair of shoes and a new blouse, it's checkered in black and white, really cute. At least I think so, hehe. I also bought some painting supplies, and a couple of new earrings. My mom also bought some stuff for her, and a new hair dryer, 'cause ours is toast. Literally. Anyways. Like I said, a very productive shopping trip indeed! :)

That's pretty much it for today! Tomorrow it's very likely that I'm going out, there's a new bar in town and we might go check it out! ~~And then drink some.~~ But now I'm going to bed, I have le français tomorrow morning! :)

Now that that's out of the way, yeah, I guess sometimes it's good to show up on LJ and let people know you haven't dropped entirely off the face of the Earth or something like that, hehe. Things here are okay, I don't have a lot of news to relay - just working a lot, learning how to do stuff, and taking things easily. Oh yeah, and going out on the weekends with laura_guerin and drinking tequila while not knowing it was tequila! I was tricked, I tell you! Tricked! :P (But it was also goooood. And it was also good that I wasn't the one driving that night ;))

What else... like I said, I don't have a lot to relay, but everything is okay now, and again, I'll try to be more active here - I was on a low LJ mood *again* since my last posts, so I went into this little hiatus - I didn't even check my friendspage at all, just went straight to a few comms and that's it. I'm sorry if I missed anything - but now I'm back (yeah Cammy, keep telling yourself that, darling :P), and y'all will again feel the Camspam! Yeah! Or something.

So how was your Easter holiday? Mine was good, there were a lot of chocolate, and tasty grandma-made food, and just general resting since Friday, which we got off at work - well, it was holiday everywhere else in here as well, so it made sense. But tomorrow it all begins again, hehe. Oh well ;)

We went out on Saturday, in which there was raining, and drinking, not necesarily in this order, and we also took a little trip to the video rent store! Me and my friend Natália watched El Pasado starring Gael García Bernal (which may have been the sole reason for the movie rental in the first place *cough*) But for real, the movie is good, even if hmm, the women were a little too crazy in it? o_O Not that Rímini, Gael's character, was all that right in the head either :P But I'm willing to let all that go because he played a translator in the movie!! And he did translating in the movie! *flails* He did subtitling, and simultaneous interpreting in French, it was totally ~~hot~~ awesome! *dead* How many movies out there have translators as the main character anyways? XD

I also rented Tropa de Elite for myself because it's quite likely I was the only person left in Brazil who hadn't watched it yet, between it being leaked months before it's actual release in movie theaters, all the controversy and debate it raised, and then it unexpectedly winning the Golden Bear at the Berlin Internation Film Festival. I liked it, but I don't know, I think I might have to watch it again and let it sink. It's certainly a controversial movie, and it depicts deep social problems that our society is well aware of their existence but sometimes chooses to ignore them. But it's a good movie nonetheless.

procrastinating on a rainy sunday

Hey there, folks! :)

(Just so you all know, I spent the last two hours finding other things to do rather than write this entry. And then I stopped writing it altogether and went out. Procrastination FTW! XD)

- Everyone, meet new Season 4!Lost header. New Season 4!Lost header, meet everyone. :D

- Things here have been pretty good! And very rainy, which is refreshing, in more ways than one.

- I actually spent most of my weekend not at home, and it felt great! On Friday night, like I mentioned before, I went out with my friends! I was afraid it'd rain, but it didn't... instead, it was a very warm, summer-like night and there were a lot of people out in the snack bars or just hanging out, which made things even more fun! :) We had dinner at a snack bar together, and afterwards we just hung out and drove around a bit. Like I said, fun. :D But in the end there was no alcohol involved, which may have been for the best, since I'm the designated driver... I arrived home about midnight, and went straight to bed, I was pretty tired because of work, but going out was definetly a good way to wind down and begin the weekend on a happy note. :)

- On Saturday, I woke up late (duh) and had my nails done... and afterwards I went to Laura's farewell party/barbecue! It was a real good time, we had friends and all of her family was there, and they're a very fun bunch to have a barbecue with, hehe. The barbecue was really tasty, too :D It also rained a lot as the afternoon was coming to an end, it was huge! We had to wait for it to wind down a bit to get back to Botucatu (it was on a town nearby Botucatu, about twenty minutes away, called São Manuel). It was a little sad at one point, because some people cried when we (her mom, dad, brother, and us as useless weights, heh) went back, especially her grandma and one of her aunts. I usually cry as well, mostly because I'm a big crybaby (not on Jackface levels though :P), but I didn't this time! Well, it wasn't the last time I was seeing her, of course.

- Somehow in the middle of the afternoon someone *cough*that might have been me*cough* had the idea of watching BSG (the miniseries) again, since it was rainy, and we had already gone out the other day, so maybe it was a better idea to stay in and hang out? And we had already been planning to initiate our friend Natália in the ways of the BSG, so yes, we watched BSG! :D She LOVED it - like it's possible not to love it, lol. Her favorite character is Helo (and she was desperate about, you know, him being left behind on Caprica and all that, but we assured her he will live... and just that, lol. Keep the suspense, I say ;) ), she doesn't like Gaius and Six that much so far (omgwtf), and her head blew up a bit when she found out Sharon was a Cylon. Like, she spent the rest of the night suddenly going, "oh my god, not Sharon!" And then shaking her head, lol. I know it's a big reveal, but she was so shocked, hehe. And we've also pointed out Dee's a bitch, I mean... you've got to point some things out, hehe. Also, speaking in codes is really fun, hehe.

Tigh: *says something about the fact Cylons could be anyone because they look like people now*
Me and Laura: *snort*
Laura: Isn't that ironic.
Natália: *blank*

Me: Did someone say ANDERS?
Laura: What? I don't remember that at all!
(It's just some generic Anders by the way, not *the* Sam Anders we all know.)
Me: Well, he is the hottest... *pause* you know.
Laura: No, there's another one... you know... *random head nod* who's good-looking too.
Me: Wait, who?
Laura: You know that thing that happens on the third season finale?
Me: Yes.
Laura: Four people, right?
Me: *nods*
Laura: There's the woman, and the other one, and Anders, and the fourth one.
(Counting was involved in this explanation.)
Me: Yes?
Laura: Yeah. Him.
Me: *realization dawns* Oooooohhh.
Natália: *blank*
(Yeah, we were talking about Tyrol. I mean, at least that's what I figured out, because I don't think she'd have a crush on Tigh *lol*)

So in the end, yeah, we got another person hooked on BSG, and she wants to keep watching the epis... I'm not going to say no, right? ;D After watching BSG we wound up watching some random stuff, and chatting a lot. I came back home at 1:30am.

- And today was okay, too - I said my final goodbyes to Laura, and I didn't cry, but it's such a strange situation, you know? She'll be gone for a year, and she's my best friend, it'll be weird not to have her around... and it's not like I got a lot of friends, I know I'll be hearing a lot from my parents very soon :S I felt very mixed up - I'm sad that she'll be gone for so long, but also happy for her because she's always dreamed of doing this, and she finally got the chance she needed. Like I said, it feels weird. But a year flies by. :) Afterwards, me and my mom went to the supermarket, went to my grandma's (on my dad's side) to check on her (she's been sick for a while now :/ ), and came back home. Lunch only came around about 3pm, but I'm used to that already ;) And then I just stayed here at home, mostly... I only left by the end of the afternoon, because I had to hand out some invites for my graduation party (it's two weeks away!! *hypers*) and I visited my grandma (on my mom's side). All in all, this was a good weekend. :)

Okay, now on to more random stuff! :D

Hey there everyone, what's up? :)

Things here have been fine! Except for the apartment brouhaha (okay, I love this word), which was not cool at all, and in the end we didn't get the apartment we wanted, but we found out there are other apartments on the same building out for rent, so not all is lost. But I digress.

What happened was, as I wrote here a couple of days ago, me and my parents were looking for a new apartment for me in Bauru, and that my mom had found a good one only a few blocks away from my carpooling spot and in a good place. She took me to take a look at it, and I liked it a lot as well - it was just perfect to my needs and to what we were looking for. So my mom contacted the real estate agency, they told her what were the documentation we needed to bring, and technically everything was set and agreed. That was on Wednesday, and my parents were to bring the documents on Friday.

So Friday rolls along, I go to work, and mom and dad drive down to Bauru in the morning. They drop the documents in the agency in the morning, about 10 a.m., and go out again - my mom had to buy some stuff, and my dad went along. Until then, everything was still set, and they believed the agreement was going to be done.

Then, at 2 p.m., out of nowhere, the woman at the agency calls my parents to let them know the apartment has already been rented to someone else. WTF? Why didn't she say so in the first place? Apparently the apartment was also up to rent in other two real estate agencies, and well - you'd guess it was rented at either one of the other two agencies, or even that the owner of the apartment rented it to someone else. That'd be fine, really. Except then my parents did some digging, called the other two agencies and the owner, and found some conflicting stories all around. Four hours later, and a lot of calling, running around and confusion, turns out the apartment had - and has not - been rented yet, all three agencies lied to my parents regarding the rental of the apartment (I didn't know that, and I don't know if it's the same everywhere, but a real estate agency gets part of the first rent payment and admnistration rights over a rental they've made, so each one was trying to make my parents rent the apartment at their agency - one woman at one of them even had the chutzpah to call the owner and tell him my parents were absolutely adamant about renting the apartment at her agency, which definetly wans't the point - my mom even told her it didn't matter what agency it was, as long as we could rent the apartment, which is what we wanted all along) and were just generally asshole-ish to them. In the end, they left the papers at one of the agencies, and we slept over at Bauru, because the woman said she'd try to either fix the situation (yeah right) or find another place.

So we spent a rather nice night - we went out, first to the mall and then to the movies, I convinced my parents to watch The Golden Compass again, hehe! :D My mom liked it a lot, my dad, not so much, but mostly 'cause he doesn't like movies so much, heh. Then we went to a pizza place, but their pizza was awful, so we just ate a little and went back to the apartment, where everyone slept like a log, including me.

(And, I had some bizarre dream involving starpollo, torchwood06, and Doctor Who! I don't remember all the details, and it probably doesn't sound so bizarre once I start describing it, but all I know is that we were part of the episode (like companions or something, because we were running a lot around, and don't companions run around a lot? lol), and the episode was called Who Killed Doctor Who? or something to that effect. It was also the episode in which Rose was returning, except she took ages to return, and she was a brunette when she actually returned! I guess being too long on a parallel dimension changes your hair color, or something. :P Oh yeah, and throughout the episode it was heavily implied that The Doctor was going to undergo regeneration, again... Though that never happened, because I woke up :P And in between the episode, I was somehow watching the episode and being part of it because I kept checking Wikipedia to find out how the episode would end, lol. Brain, plz stop being weird. Thx.)

So we got up today, and went to the real estate agency. Of course we didn't get the apartment :( But like I said in the beginning, we found out yesterday there is a lawyer who lives in the building which owns other apartments there, and one of those is for rent. He is traveling, but he is returning this week, on the 10th, and my dad will give him a call when he returns. He's renting it by himself, so it should be a lot easier to deal with stuff this way. So let's keep our fingers crossed! ;)

And that's about it, lol! Today was more easy-going, the weather is very very end-of-the-world type, and I think we're getting a huge thunderstorm very soon :O Which is good, because the weather was far too hot and damp the last few days :S So I'm not going out tonight, I'm staying in and chatting with the folks and I'll probably start the iconmaking soon! :D Stay tuned! I'm also going to write a letter to laura_guerin to hand to her next week - it's her last weekend here for a loooong while, and we'll go out next week for sure, 'cause we can't miss that at all. I'm gonna miss her a lot. :(

That's all I have to say for now. That, and that I'm really pissed off now. More on that tomorrow, because the situation may get better, but it also may be totally lost. Yes, this is about the new apartment. Or maybe it's not going to be my new apartment at all. Ugh.

It's your ~~baby~~ card!! It's here! XD I'm holding it right now, I love it! It's so adorable! *dances* It was good 'cause the suspense was kept to the last moment 'cause you didn't have the sender's info on the envelope, but soon it became clear it was your card... (By the way, your handwriting is really cute.) It's so going to my Box of Good Things, which where I keep all the cards and letters I get! :D Isn't it weird that you got my card today and I got your card today as well? o.O Weird coincidences... anyways, now I'm waiting for your card, Dan! :)

(Damnit, I'm slapping my hands so I won't begin answering your letter on this entry... and also your letter was huge! Mine was so sucky compared to it! *blushes*)

So, besides getting Taru's card, what else happened today? Work was fine, a bit easygoing at times but there's never a dull moment in there, hehe. We had a training during the afternoon, which was okay too. Tomorrow things should get a little more complicated, since we begin loading trucks again, and we're supposed to send 4000 tons of pulp to Santos port until the 17th, which is when the ship leaves for Antwerp. In conclusion: 500 tons (if not more - this is our first forecast) are going tomorrow. So we'll have 20 trucks leaving tomorrow, and I'll do part of the invoices and the documentation that goes along with them, if not most of them or even all of them! I'm not complaining, of course, it's my job and otherwise how else will I learn to do things if I don't do them? But it's a lot of stuff to do, heh. But everything should go well *crosses fingers*

What else... oh, my mom stayed here in Bauru during the afternoon, 'cause my parents decided I should move from the apartment where I currently live to somewhere closer to downtown (which is where the action is :P) and to where the people I carpool with everyday pick me up - I usually have to walk about 15-20 minutes every morning to get there. Not that it's a big deal, at least I'm awake enough to go to work by the time I get there, but oh well, you can't dissuade them once they got something in their heads :P And guess what, she found a great place! She took me there after I arrived from work. It's about 4 blocks away from the carpooling place and close to downtown, so at least those two aspects are covered, hehe. And the apartment is really nice, it's a tad bigger than my current apartment (it has two bedrooms instead of one, but not too big for a single person to live in. The bathroom is a bit weird but I can live with that :P And the rent isn't much different from the one we pay now, so it's all good... I intend to help paying part of it now that I can. So yeah, it would seem I will be moving out soon! I'll let y'all know how it goes! :D

And I did it! I finally found a bookshop that had The Golden Compass (the book, not an actual aleithometer :P)! And I bought it! YAY! \o/ I should have gone to the mall right away, hehe. I plan to start reading it tonight :) I also bought a new pair of sandals and a purse. Well... actually my mom bought the purse and the shoes. Was she really nice today or what? Hehe. (Seriously, my mom rocks :D)

I guess that's pretty much it! Today was a really good day, all in all! Oh! I'm gonna do something I haven't done in ages...

Hey there everyone, what's up?

- Things at work have been really fine! I finally got my real badge last week, it looks great! (maybe I'll scan it later, hehe) It's funny, but now that I got it I finally feel like I'm really part of the team! Well, that, and the fact that now I'm beginning to do some things by myself, things I didn't know a month and a bit ago, and I'm not doing them all that wrong - it's a great feeling! I'm also getting to know people better, and making new friends (we're even planning to go out this Thursday, hehe)... It's been such a great, challenging, tiring, baffling time, and I love it ^_^

- Speaking of work, I'm going to São Paulo this Wednesday! All business matters, of course :) I'm excited, but a bit nervous as well - me and Élio, my boss (who's just returned from Europe), are going there to have a meeting at Ekman's quarters (Ekman is another enterprise, it works as one of our agents - they help with the pulp sales on Argentina, USA, Belgium and France), and I'll also be learning some dealing procedures that Élio wants me (omg) to work with from now on. Then he'll stay there until the weekend, and I return to Bauru on the same day (don't worry, we have a driver, hehe). It should be fun, even if I'm sure I might be drawing a blank at times, and I'm going to meet people I've only talked on the phone or exchanged e-mails with, which should be interesting :)

- Hmm, what else... OH YEAH, uni is over! I still don't believe it, hehe. Well, I still have to go there this week to check my grades and I have the dissertation presentation on December, but... there are no more classes. Let me repeat that. No more classes. See why it's so unbelievable? :O Time flew by - it still feels like I've just graduated from school, took the vestibular (in here, you have to take a test - each uni has its vestibular, which is this test, it has questions regarding all subjects learned at school - and pass it to begin studying at your uni of choice. Oh yeah, and you can still fail it.), got in, started studying again... and now I'm graduating *and* working! :O I certainly had a good time here, made a lot of friends for life, and it was a great phase of my life, where I learned a lot about people. I guess it's time to move on. ;)

- Y'all, isn't this the best Translation class you've ever seen? ;)

(There was supposed to have another friend of ours at the picture, but he's annoying and didn't want to take part at the ceremony or the festivities at all :P)

- And to top it, one of my proessors are throwing us a small party tomorrow to celebrate the end of all things of classes ^_^ No, I'm not going to get drunk - I have to work the other day Okay, maybe a beer or two... 'cause I'm pretty sure there won't be any vodka :(

- Interpol '08 FTW Update - Yes, I'm still going to see them, no matter what, lol. I'd go to Never Never Land if I had to :P But there's the thing, I might not be seeing them here in São Paulo, but in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais' capital city) - the catch here is that the BH show is on Saturday, and that means many good things:

a) not missing a work day
b) actually having company *from my town* to attend the gig (The lovely Vanessa a.k.a. eubabopeloalex - we met last year at Motomix time, she ended attending the gig and I didn't, but you're not interested in that random past tidbit :P) - that means not traveling alone and not having to go around in an unknown town by myself - she has friends in BH also attending the gig, so we won't have problems regarding that. That is also going to help in my parents' letting me go - they'd never let me go by myself, even if I were going to São Paulo (which is a town I don't know that well either)
c) it'll be easier to get the tickets (though even here at São Paulo, which is probably where most fans are, is having very easy going sales so far... Interpol's not really that big here - and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, hehe)
d) I get to meet new people and a new city - it's gonna be a huge adventure that's for sure :)
e) and the show, of course :)

The only downside, so far, is that, uh... we'll have to travel 10 hours (by bus - we're not looking into other possibilities so far) to get to Belo Horizonte :P I'm actually not that daunted by it - like I said, it's the weekend, I can get a lot of rest on Friday, take the trip, watch the best show ever with cool company, and return home sleeping but happy. And then rest what's left of the Sunday, hehe. But it'll have been worth it! :D She's working as well, so she's got almost everything set to go to BH, and the idea is beginning to look really attractive to me too... the upsides are just so many! And we've come into conclusion this week that this is a show not to be missed, so... wish us luck! :D

I was actually going to write a normal entry first (which no, would not be as long as the previous one :P), but I'm blanking out a little, so I'm gonna do the memes I saw at Taru's LJ during the week, and afterwards I might write it. Or not. :P

So... meme number one coming up!

1. Story behind your LJ Layout?
I wanted to change my layout completely (cause I just did color variations when I changed a header - I'm not as layout savvy as a certain Finn is :P), so I went looking for a new one, and I found this one, by refuted, which I loved right away. So I changed it and that's it :)

2. What's bothering you right now?
The extremely dry and non-rainy-at-all weather that we've been getting here for about two months :S

3. Do you close the door when you pee?
Not if I'm alone and I know it :P Otherwise, yeah, of course.

4. Wallet?
It's rectangular, black, and full of money and old ticket stubs & random paper. :) And it's got my documents (ID, driving licence, and CIC)
